PLATFORM OVERVIEW

The FusionMine virtual reality training platform consists of a multi-user virtual reality training grid (FusionBloc) and mechanical vehicle simulators (FusionSim) that integrate into highly realistic virtual reality mine training courses. The human behavioural data that is tracked and monitored in the virtual reality mine is dynamically stored in your companies FusionCloud database.

ROOM-SCALE MULTIUSER VIRTUAL REALITY TRAINING GRID

The FusionBloc virtual reality training grid uses advanced tracking devices and infrared sensors to capture, record and replicate a trainee’s physical movement in virtual reality. These small devices are seamlessly attached to the VR headsets, hands, and any physical objects that need to be tracked and replicated in the virtual reality mine, such as pinch bars or fire extinguishers.

The modular design of the FusionBloc grid allows your company to seamlessly scale the system according to the available space and requirements. Specialised equipment enables trainees to walk around the VR training grid without tripping over wires, and innovative hand controllers mean that trainees no longer carry bulky remotes, creating a natural training experience.

Our award-winning team of graphics designers, animators, programmers and engineers have spent thousands of hours recreating highly realistic virtual reality mine training courses. Each virtual reality mining course is custom developed for your mining company and is designed to be a multilayered experience that helps trainees apply their skills, both individually and as a team.

WORKPLACE PROCEDURES:

Highly interactive virtual reality training courses that allow trainees to physically perform the procedures that are required of them to complete their jobs safely and effectively.

These interactive virtual reality mine training courses range from simple HIRA assessments and vehicle inspections to more complex procedures, such as marking a blast wall.

INCIDENTS RECONSTRUCTION:

Using historical accident reports or 3D scanning incidents that occur on-site, our team can accurately recreate 3D simulations of situations that resulted in injury or death.

These immersive simulations allow instructors to demonstrate how and why certain situations occurred to other trainees and showcase the correct way of doing things.

SIMULATOR INTEGRATION

The team collaboration mode is designed to seamlessly interact with the FusionSim vehicle simulators, discussed in more detail below. When instructors select the team collaboration mode, the trainees will be able to see and interact with the people who are currently training in the FusionSim virtual reality vehicle simulators.

Integrating people and vehicles into the same virtual reality mining environment allows trainees to become accustomed to working with each other. This team-based training platform increases collaboration, encourages communication and reduces the risk of accidents and deaths that occur on the job.

3D Scanned Mines

Using a series of depth-sensing cameras, our team is able to 3D map your physical mining environment. This raw 3D data is uploaded to our FusionMine system, where it undergoes a complex remodelling and optimisation process to prepare the environment for use in the virtual reality mine training courses.

TUTORIALS

An easy-to-use tutorial has been purposely designed to help trainees familiarise themselves with the VR equipment and the virtual reality mine training courses. This tutorial requires trainees to perform specific tasks that, once complete, will allow them to interact in the virtual reality mining courses seamlessly.

ANALYTICS

The system automatically captures and logs an individual’s training session onto your companies FusionCloud database. This capturing method allows facilitators to understand what training is required by each individual, creating a more personalised training method.

SCALABILITY

The FusionBloc training grid’s modular design allows mining companies to simultaneously train up to 25 people in the virtual reality training courses. Once a training course has been developed, it can be seamlessly rolled out to all your training facilities.

DYNAMIC VIRTUAL REALITY MINING VEHICLE SIMULATORS

Our FusionSim virtual reality vehicle simulators are purposely designed to provide trainee operators with comprehensive training in a safe and controlled virtual mining environment.

The FusionSim platform allows trainees to become familiar with the vehicles they operate, the working conditions they operate in, and the various hazards that occur on the mine site.

VEHICLE PLATFORM

Mechanical motion platforms, custom-built cabs, high-tech computers and virtual reality headsets form the basis of our FusionSim vehicle simulators.

Once trainees put on the VR headsets, they are fully immersed in the virtual reality mining courses. This complete immersion, combined with 360 spatial audio and the movement of the motion platform, creates a highly realistic platform for trainees to perfect their skills.

INSTRUCTOR CONTROL CENTRE

A high-tech computer coupled with two monitors forms the basis of the instructor control centre.

Once the instructor enters the trainee’s unique details, they can access a dashboard of their past training history. Based on the individual’s specific requirements, the instructor can select the relevant course and control the various elements that make up the training session.

TYPES OF ASSESSMENTS

PRACTISE MODE

Once an instructor has selected the relevant training course, trainees are required to perform the various tasks based on their existing knowledge and experience. If tasks are performed incorrectly, the instructor is provided with real-time feedback and can address errors immediately.

To test how trainee’s respond to certain situations and scenarios, instructors have the ability to introduce multiple variables into the simulation.

ASSESSMENT MODE

Assessments form an integral part of the training process as they determine if the trainee can recall the required information as and when necessary. Instructors can conduct and monitor numerous assessments that test the trainee’s abilities to perform specific tasks and functions.

DATA MANAGEMENT PLATFORM

Our advanced tracking mechanisms and responsive software allows your organisation to track and monitor trainee’s behavioural data. Using this data, you are able to gain an in-depth understanding of how trainees perform certain tasks as well as analyse and correct the chain of events that lead to any mistakes or fatalities.

This allows training departments to understand and improve recognised best practices which in turn reduces the risk of fatalities. Our human behaviour analysis captures the following types of behaviour:

Key analytic dashboards are automatically generated on a weekly and monthly basis. These dashboards provide management with insight into how individual and team progress through the various training courses.
